All the cool atmosphere and cajun mysticism from Rayman 2 is jettisoned and replaced by obnoxious saturday morning cartoon voices squaking fourth-wall-breaking insults and fart jokes. It's generally not fun, it focuses on combat above all else and atmosphere-wise it takes cues from Conker's Bad Fur Day of all things. If your gamepad doesn't have button mapping in its drivers then you're stuck with the defaults. The PC version of Rayman 2 is freaking gorgeous. Comes with a level editor and a pack of fanmade levels.
It has some problems recognizing my gamepads (mostly because Dosbox can seemingly only recognize up to two buttons per pad) but Xpadder/Joy2Key fixes that. The GOG version of Rayman 1 unfortunately runs in dosbox but is actually quite nice.
